Are Castle
The stairway to Are Castle is in Altenahr (Rossberg 56). It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the train station to the ruins.
Visiting the ruin is free and only possible on foot.
Please do not enter the ruin in the dark!

The Altenahr summer toboggan run
The is about 4 km above Altenahr
Altenahr summer toboggan run.
With the lift you are pulled up on the "sledge" - a flat car - 200m. From above, the sledges roll in a stainless steel tub through seven fast bends over 500m into the valley, can be braked by the driver, slowly or quickly. Young people in particular enjoy this, but many older people also go down to the valley happily.
The track can also be used in wet and rainy conditions.

Museum Roemervilla Ahrweiler
Even the Romans appreciated the pleasant climate in the Ahr valley and built an imposing villa rustica on the outskirts of today's city of Ahrweiler.
Today visitors can experience the "best preserved Roman villa north of the Alps" and travel back in time with costume tours.
Opening times: late March to mid-November: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday closed.

Documentation center government bunker
The former government bunker in the Ahr Valley opened its nuclear-bombproof gates to the public in March 2008. Sections of the facilities are open to the public as a museum and invite young and old from all over the world.
The documentation center can only be visited as part of a guided tour. Individual visitors are grouped together.
The documentation center is closed to individual visitors from mid-November to the end of March.
Opening times for individual visitors: Wed, Sat + Sun 10 am-6pm
Last admission 4.30 p.m.
